Glenn Van Ekeren gives seminars on maximizing human potential. He is fond of telling the story about a basketball coach who had the rare art of inspiring teams with the courage to fight back when things looked impossible. During the h alftime of one difficult game, he stood before the team and yelled, "Did Michael Jordan ever quit?" The team yelled back, "No!"
The coach ye lled, "Did Cal Ripken, Jr. ever quit?" The team yelled, "No!" "What abou t the Wright brothers? Did they quit?" "No!" yelled the team. Then the coac h shouted, "And what about Elmer McAllister. Did he ever quit?" There was a awkward pause. Then the team captain said, "Coach, we never heard of hi m."
