How many of the world's prayers have gone unanswered because those who prayed did not endure to the end? They thought it was too late, that they must act for themselves, that God was not going to guide them. C an I endure to the very end? If so, we shall be saved. We should try to en dure with courage. Pr ay that we may follow God's guidance, so that spiritual success shall be o urs. Pray that we may never doubt the power of God and so take things into our own hands.

I liv e in earthquake country, astride the Hayward fault, itself connected to t he gigantic San Andreas fault. I have often thought of the Golden Gate Brid ge in San Francisco as our city's boldest structure in that its great south pier rests directly upon the fault one of the San Andreas.

We can try to see the life of the spirit as a calm place, shut away from the turmoil of the world. We can think of our spiritual hom e as a place full of peace, serenity and contentment. We can go to this qu iet, meditative place for the strength to carry us through today's duties and problems. We can keep coming back here for refreshment when we are wary of the hubbub of the outside world. From this quietness and communion come s our strength. ~ Fr. Pat Umberger

Pray that we may keep this restin g place where we can commune with God. Pray that we may find refreshment in meditation on the Eternal.
