We can try to see the life of the spirit as a calm place, shut away from the turmoil of the world. We can think of our spiritual hom e as a place full of peace, serenity and contentment. We can go to this qu iet, meditative place for the strength to carry us through today's duties and problems. We can keep coming back here for refreshment when we are wary of the hubbub of the outside world. From this quietness and communion come s our strength. ~ Fr. Pat Umberger

Pray that we may keep this restin g place where we can commune with God. Pray that we may find refreshment in meditation on the Eternal.

Imagine your hand and God's clasped together. Your grip loosens duri ng a season of temptation, sin, doubt or apathy. But rather than concentr ating on your slackness, look to the hand of God. His grip of love is soli d. "For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand (Isaia h 41:13)." You can cease, as Churchill said, from the paralysis of morbid introspection.
