"He who stands firm to the end will be saved." ~ Matthew 24:13
How many of the world's prayers have gone unanswered because those who prayed did not endure to the end? They thought it was too late, that they must act for themselves, that God was not going to guide them. C an I endure to the very end? If so, we shall be saved. We should try to en dure with courage. Then God will unlock those secret spiritual treasures wh ich are hidden from those who give up to soon. ~ Fr. Pat Umberger
Pr ay that we may follow God's guidance, so that spiritual success shall be o urs. Pray that we may never doubt the power of God and so take things into our own hands.

"So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: See, I lay a ston e in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation: the one who trusts will never be dismayed." ~ Isaiah 28:16
I liv e in earthquake country, astride the Hayward fault, itself connected to t he gigantic San Andreas fault. I have often thought of the Golden Gate Brid ge in San Francisco as our city's boldest structure in that its great south pier rests directly upon the fault one of the San Andreas. That bridge is an amazing structure of both flexibility and strength,. It is built to sway some twenty feet at the center of its one-mile suspension span. The se cret to its durability is its flexibility, which enables this sway. By des ign, every part of the bridge - its concrete roadway, its steel railings , its cross beams - is inevitably related from one welded joint to the othe r, up through the vast cable system to two great towers and two great land anchor piers. The towers bear most of the weight, a...

"God loved the world so much that he gave his Son, so that everyone who believes in him may...have eternal life." ~ John 3:16 < br>The LORD says, "My thoughts.....and my ways are different from yours. A s high as the heavens are above the earth, so high my thoughts and ways ar e above yours (Isaiah 55:8-9)."
Consider one example of God's ways:< br> "When God wants a great job done in the world or a great wrong right ed, He goes about it in a very unusual way.
He doesn't stir up His earthquakes or send forth His thunderbolts.
Instead, He has a helpl ess baby born, perhaps in a simple home....(to) some obscure mother. And t hen God puts the idea into the mother's heart, and she puts it into the ba by's mind.
And then God waits." ~ E. T. Sullivan

"Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on th e things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set thei r minds on the things of the Spirit. To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace." ~ Rom ans 8:5-6
We can try to see the life of the spirit as a calm place, shut away from the turmoil of the world. We can think of our spiritual hom e as a place full of peace, serenity and contentment. We can go to this qu iet, meditative place for the strength to carry us through today's duties and problems. We can keep coming back here for refreshment when we are wary of the hubbub of the outside world. From this quietness and communion come s our strength. ~ Fr. Pat Umberger

"My soul clings fast to you; your right hand upholds me." ~ Psalm 63:9
Sir Winston Churchill once remarked that it was dang erous to "always (be) feeling one's pulse and taking one's temperature." Hi s words were addressed to those who looked at the wildly fluctuating fortun es of battle to determine England's success or failure in World War II. Imagine your hand and God's clasped together. Your grip loosens duri ng a season of temptation, sin, doubt or apathy. But rather than concentr ating on your slackness, look to the hand of God. His grip of love is soli d. "For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand (Isaia h 41:13)." You can cease, as Churchill said, from the paralysis of morbid introspection.
The favorable winds of God's love for you blo ws continuously. Move forward in that truth, and the turbulence of gusty e motions will not blow you off your course of growing in the grace and knowl edge of Jesus Christ. ~ excerpted from Charles St...
