".... there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, ever y part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it." ~ 1 Corinthians 12:25-26
I tremble to make the analogy betw een cancer in the physical body and mutiny in the spiritual body of Christ. But I must. In His warnings to the church, Jesus showed no concern about the shocks and bruises His Body would meet from external forces. "Th e gates of hell shall not prevail against my church (Matthew 16:18)." I must concentrate on how I, as an individual cell, should respond to t he crying needs of the Body of Christ in other parts of the world.... From the perspective of spending eighteen years in one of the poorest countries on earth, the contrasts in resources are astonishingly large. American servicemen came hom e from the Pacific with all kinds of remembrances. Cyril O'Brien treasures one, especially. It is a small holy picture of Our Lady.
One day, on the island of Guam, his patrol encountered three Japanese soldie rs. A volley of gunfire followed. Routinely, the patrol checked the dead s oldiers for grenades and possible intelligence material O'Brien put his han d into the pocket of one of the Japanese solders. It contained a picture of Mary. It was the pocket over the soldier's heart.

Seek the truth Teach the truth Love the truth Abide by the truth And defend the truth Unto death. ~ J ohn Hus, selected
As a Knight, have you taken the time to educate yourself on the Church's stand on all Life issues from the moment of conception until natural death?
How have you defended the truth in your everyday life when confronted with a particular Life issue? Why doe s the Church teach that married couples are to remain open to the transmiss ion of new life? Why is the dignity of the human person seriously threat ened by genetic manipulation and fetal experimentation? How do we affirm the right to Life of the elderly and the terminally ill against the satani c seductions of euthanasia and assisted suicide? Thomas Jefferson was the autho r of the Declaration of Independence and the 3rd President of the United St ates. He once said: "The care of human life and happiness, and not their d estruction, is the first and only object of good government."
Yet, today, thousands of "legalized" abortions destroy human life each day in the country that Jefferson helped to found. Meanwhile, several million U.S . couples are on agency lists, waiting to adopt a child. ~ Mark Link S.J.< br> How do you explain the drift from the thinking of our founding fathe rs to the practice of modern citizens?

All Saints' Day is for all the known and unknown saints who have died and gone before us and who are at rest with Christ. Simply put, to be a saint is to do God's will eac h day throughout one's life to the best of one's ability. This is God's cal l for each of us who have been brought into His Body, the Church, through Baptism. The origin of this feast day can be traced back to the 4th centur y. Ephrem of Syria and John Chrysostom, both Eastern Church Fathers, call ed this day the feast of martyrs of the whole world. Pope Gregory IV (827-8 44) made November 1st as the feast day for all the Saints. ~ Catholic Encyc lopedia

Author and lecturer, Leo Buscaglia, once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the cont est was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went i nto the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little b oy said, "Nothing.....I just helped him cry." ~ Fr. Pat Umberger
