Catholic faith continually reminds us that we are not chess players in a dark room lit by a single light bulb, absolutely al one with God, but rather that we are being cheered on and helped by a huge heavenly stadium full of saints, virgins, martyrs and ordinary blokes wh o "fought the good fight" and "finished the race" under circumstances just like ours. Frustrated with your job? So were a million saints who soldiered through to heavenly glory. In pain, lonely, frightened, confused? They' ve been there too and they are shouting to you from the stands, "You can m ake it! We did! And we know you can too! God will save you as he saved us!"
