According to a rec ent radio report, a middle school in Oregon was faced with a unique proble m. A number of girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but then they were pressing their lips to the mirrors leaving dozens of little lip prints. Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom an d met them there with the custodian.

She explained that all t hese lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to c lean the mirrors every day. To demonstrate how difficult it was to maintain the mirrors, she asked the custodian to clean one of the mirrors. He took out a long-handled brush, dipped it into the toilet and scrubbed the mirr or. Since then there have been no lip prints on the school's mirrors. ~ Aut hor unknown

In ancient England, dinner guest used to entertain other gu ests after meals. At one dinner an actor was present and did a fabulous ren dition of Psalm 23, "The LORD is my Shepherd." Everyone stood and applaude d. Then a guest noticed the aunt of the host dozing in the back of the room . The old woman was deaf and had missed almost all of the entertainment. Th e guest shouted, "Auntie, come up and do something." Everyone applauded.< br>
She recited the same psalm. When she finished, there wasn't a dry e ye in the room. Later, the guest asked the actor, "Your rendition was fab ulous. So why were we so moved by the aunt?" He replied, "Simple - I know the psalm, but old auntie knows the Shepherd." ~ Mark Link, S.J.
