"(One day Jesus came to John for baptism. John said,) I oug ht to be baptized by you..." Jesus said, "Let it be so for now." ~ Mat thew 3:14-15
John had told people to be baptized as a sign of their commitment to turn away from sin and back to God. This raises a question: W hy was the sinless Jesus baptized? By becoming one of us, Jesus bec ame a member of our sinful human family.
He would not separate himse lf from us - even in our sinfulness. Thus, he teaches us an important less on. We cannot separate ourselves from our sinful human family either, espe cially from its "family" sins: disregard for the poor, disrespect for life in all forms, discrimination against human differences. ~ Author unknown< br> If Jesus was crucified for our "family" sins, what should we as Kni ghts do about these sins?

"The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him." ~ Proverbs 23:24
All foster fathers n eed only look to Saint Joseph for strength. We know Joseph was a man of fai th, obedient to whatever God asked of him without knowing the outcome. Whe n the angel came to Joseph in a dream and told him the truth about the chil d Mary was carrying, Joseph immediately and without question or concern fo r gossip, took Mary as his wife.
When the angel came again to tell him that his family was in danger, he immediately left everything he owned , all his family and friends, and fled to a strange country with h is young wife and baby. He waited in Egypt without question until the angel told him it was safe to go back. When looking for the epitome of fatherhoo d, one need look no further than Saint Joseph himself. ~ Author unknown

"How can I give up?" ~ Hosea 11:8
The prophet Hos ea speaks of God's love and forgiveness in a touching way. Speaking in God' s name, he says:
When Israel was a child, I loved&nbs p;him and called him out of Egypt... But the more I called to him, the more he turned away from me. .. Yet I was the one who taught Israel to walk... How can I abandon ( Israel)?... My heart will not let me do it! My love for you is too strong. I will not punish you in my anger ... For I am God and not man. I, the Holy One, am with you.. . I will not come to you in anger (Hosea 11:1-3, 8-9) ~ Ma rk Link, S.J.

"Be watchful, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong." ~ 1 Corinthians 16:13
One simple fact often overlooked is that Christian, and especially Catholic, faith is not supposed to be a cakewalk. The gospel is replete with exhortations to "be courageous, be strong." This is not the sort of exhortation one receives at vacation resor ts or mattress testing sites. It is the sort of thing one hears in athletic training, or before a trial, or in preparation for some rigorous voyage. And that is because the Christian walk is a place of training, trial and travel. We are going somewhere and we need to be prepared to get there. Tha t somewhere is Heaven and it will require everything of us just as it requi red everything of God. Not that we earn it, of course, but rather that we must be ready to receive fully what God has given. ~ Dr. Scott Hahn

"The Spirit of the LORD God is upon me, because the LORD ha s anointed me to bring good tidings to the afflicted; the has sent me to b ind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the op ening of the prison to those who are bound." ~ Isaiah 61:1
If yo u are afflicted, brokenhearted, or captive, this is the sign, not of yo ur rejection by God, but of his special tender love for you. In Christ Cru cified, God is right there next to you. He will never abandon you, just a s he did not abandon Jesus even at the hour of abandonment itself. Even at the very bottom, God is there. And he knows the way out. He walked out him self on Easter morning. ~ Dr. Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavins
