Saint Augustine was walking along a beach. He was l ost in meditation on the central mystery of Christianity, the Holy Trinity: "How could God be three and one at the same time?" Suddenly, his attenti on was drawn to a little girl carrying a small container of water from the sea to a hole she had dug on the beach. What are you doing? he asked her.&n bsp;
With childlike simplicity, she replied: "I'm emptying the sea int o this hole." Then he stopped dead and thought: "I am trying to do what tha t little girl is doing - trying to crowd the infinite Creator into the fini te creation of my little mind." ~ Mark Link S.J.

Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
I thought the w orld was intent on dragging me down.
And if that weren't enough t o ruin my day,
A young boy out of breath approached me, all tir ed from play,
He stood right before me with his head tilted down
And said with great excitement, "Look what I found!"
Wanting him to take h is dead flower and go off to play,
I faked a small smile and then shift ed away.
He declared, "It sure smells pretty and it's beautiful, too.< br>That's why I picked it; here, it's for you."
But instead of placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid-air without reason or pla n.
It was then that I noticed for the very first time
That weed-totin g boy could not see; he was blind.
I heard my voice quiver; tears shon e in the sun
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.
"You're welcome," he smiled, and then ran off to play,
