As a Knight, have you taken the time to educate yourself on the Church's stand on all Life issues from the moment of conception until natural death?
How have you defended the truth in your everyday life when confronted with a particular Life issue? Why doe s the Church teach that married couples are to remain open to the transmiss ion of new life? Why is the dignity of the human person seriously threat ened by genetic manipulation and fetal experimentation? How do we affirm the right to Life of the elderly and the terminally ill against the satani c seductions of euthanasia and assisted suicide? Where does Christ, Him self executed as a capital criminal, command us to stand on the issue of c apital punishment? How is our Council prepar...

Thomas Jefferson was the autho r of the Declaration of Independence and the 3rd President of the United St ates. He once said: "The care of human life and happiness, and not their d estruction, is the first and only object of good government."
Yet, today, thousands of "legalized" abortions destroy human life each day in the country that Jefferson helped to found. Meanwhile, several million U.S . couples are on agency lists, waiting to adopt a child. ~ Mark Link S.J.< br> How do you explain the drift from the thinking of our founding fathe rs to the practice of modern citizens?

All Saints' Day is for all the known and unknown saints who have died and gone before us and who are at rest with Christ. Simply put, to be a saint is to do God's will eac h day throughout one's life to the best of one's ability. This is God's cal l for each of us who have been brought into His Body, the Church, through Baptism. The origin of this feast day can be traced back to the 4th centur y. Ephrem of Syria and John Chrysostom, both Eastern Church Fathers, call ed this day the feast of martyrs of the whole world. Pope Gregory IV (827-8 44) made November 1st as the feast day for all the Saints. ~ Catholic Encyc lopedia

Author and lecturer, Leo Buscaglia, once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the cont est was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went i nto the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little b oy said, "Nothing.....I just helped him cry." ~ Fr. "Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while h e is near." ~ Isaiah 55:6
God is near in every good thing. He is nearer still in the creature called man and woman. He comes even closer in good men and women, closer still in his saints, closer still in the grea test saint, Mary, and closest of all in the person of the God-Man Jesus C hrist. Draw near to these (and especially to Jesus, who is present in all His saints and most especially in the Holy Eucharist), and He will draw ne ar to you. ~ Dr. Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavins

" People would take their sick to the marketplaces and beg J esus to let the sick at least touch the edge of his cloak. And all who touc hed it were made well." ~ Mark 6:56
England was involved in the Crimean War in Russia from 1845 to 1856. The wounded were laid side by side in makeshift hospitals that were dirty, overcrowded, and understaffed. T he wind blew the stench from open sewers, making breathing difficult. Rats ran wild. Into this incredible, hopeless situation came Florence Nighting ale and 38 nurses she had trained in England. Sometimes she spent 20 hours straight on her feet, directing sanitation efforts and bandaging the wound ed. The bedridden soldiers worshiped here and would "kiss her shadow as it fell across their pillows." If the sick and the needy are to experience Jesus' healing presence today, it must be through loving, cari ng people. ~ Mark Link, S. J.

"Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to gi ve, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." ~ 2 Corinthians 9:7-8
We can share our love, our joy, our hap piness, our time, our food, our money gladly with all. We can give out a ll the love we can with a glad, free heart and hand. We can do all we can for others and back will come countless stores of blessings. Sharing can dr aw others to us. We can take all who come as sent by God and give them a ro yal welcome. We may never see the results of our sharing. Today they may no t need us, but tomorrow may bring results from the sharing we did today. ~ Fr. Pat Umberger
