Description | "God will reward each of us according to what we have done." ~ Romans 2:6 Jan Gies and his wife Miep were members of the Dut ch underground. They achieved fame through 14-year-old Anne Frank's diary. It described in moving detail what it was like for the Frank family and fou r other Jews to be hiding out in a warehouse from the Nazis. After t wo years, the Franks were caught. During that period, Jan Gies risked his life daily, smuggling ration coupons to buy food and then smuggling the f ood to the Franks and to the four others in hiding. Someone said of Gies, "Jan was not a person to stand in the limelight... He was throughout his life a man of few words, but many deeds." ~ Mark Link, S.J.
