The Father will honor anyone who serves me." ~ John 12:26 The film, Chariots of Fire, is about Eric Liddel l, a Scott, and Britain''s top 100-meter runner and a cinch to win the go ld in the 1924 Paris Olympics. Deeply religious, Liddell never ran on Sund ay. When the Olympic schedule was released, he was shocked. The 100-meter event was scheduled for Sunday. In spite of the incredible pr essure put upon him by the British press, Eric refused to compete. He swit ched to the 400-meter race, a race he had never run in his life. Just before the race, an American runner, Jackson Scholz, handed Li ddell a note. It contained this sentence from John 12:26: "My Father will h onor anyone who serves me."
