One day a sm all opening appeared on a cocoon As the butterfly struggled to bust through the tiny hole, a man sat waiting to see the butterfly appear. As a show o f compassion, he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily - but it had a swollen bo dy and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly ex pecting, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand. Neither happe ned. The butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swolle n body and shriveled wings. What the man did not understand is that the res trictive cocoon and the struggle required of the butterfly are nature's way of forcing fluid from its body into its wings. That way, it would be read y for flight once it achieved freedom from the cocoon. Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If we went... |
