"Believe in the light... while you have it, so that you wil l be the people of the light." ~ John 12:36
Anne Herbert was sit ting in a restaurant in Sausalito, California, when she wrote down a phra se she'd been mulling over for days. Now the phrase is seen everywhere on b umper stickers, business cards, and at the bottom of letters. One woman s aw it spray painted on a warehouse 100 miles from her home. When she got ho me, she tried to recall it to write it down, but it wasn't quite right. S o she drove all the way back to copy it. The phrase that appeals to so many reads:
"Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty." Herbert believes that "random kindness" can trigger a tidal wave of goo d in the world, just as "random violence" triggers evil. Maybe that's why the phrase is seen everywhere. It touches something deep in the heart; it appeals to the very best in us. ~ Fr. Pat Umberger
